Extension, and remodelling of existing house
A contemporary infill extension was proposed as
a link between the upper and lower levels, which also housed the dining area, with
the kitchen in the original forge, and guest rooms and play area within the
outbuildings.
The existing dwelling
comprised two linked cottages split over three levels. Below the lower link was
the original disused forge, with associated outbuildings.
Internally, our client required a dining area and kitchen, an area for guests to stay, and a play area for children. Externally, an area for private relaxation and an area for entertaining was required.
The quality of the contemporary design, juxtaposed against the
traditional cottage, has created a beautifully elegant solution.
